Web 2.0 - The Beginning

The World Wide Web brings us all together.
In my initial blog I called the web a strange new world. Well, thanks to this class; the web is becoming a little more familiar. It is almost a friend. I know if I keep using what I have learned; it will make my job easier and my students will be more engaged.

I may not have been a morning person; but coming to this class has kept me awake.

This is a picture I pulled from Flickr of a dog running in the dog park. He/She looks just like my dog running in the dog park. I chose this picture because I feel like I had a lot more fun and felt a sense of tech freedom today while practicing and playing in wiki today. Thanks to my teacher, Annet, for all her help.

I had a hard time today trying to get into flickr. It took me over 2 hours to sign in. So I did not learn very much today except to choose security questions that you can remember the answers to. Now I am frustrated and have a headache. However, tomorrow is another day and I do plan to explore the beauty of flickr another day.

This morning I explored many blogs and practiced adding subscriptions to my google reader. I read through many interesting blogs. I had no idea the number of blogs available. I had never explored this world before.

Delicious

This afternoon I learned how to add bookmarks and tags on my own social networking delicious account. I explored many websites on the delicious accounts. I hope to have time to go back and really examine, explore, and accumlate sites that I can use with my ESL students. I am linking a site in this post that has sooo many activities that can be used with ESL students. I hope you can check it out.

P.S. I am going to continue to post to my blog and use my delicious account for all my favorite bookmarks from all my computers.

My Initial Blog

Well, it is Monday morning and I am in a Web 2.0 Technology class. To tell you the truth; I am not a morning person, but this morning I am embarking on a journey into a 'brave new world.' I am excited with a little intrepidation. My goal or objective is to learn as much as I can about this strange world of technology. I know this is the place I need to be, even if it means sacrificing some precious R&R summer vacation time. However, because of my love for teaching and learning; I want to learn as much as I can to be able to communicate effectively with my students as well as peers and fellow educators on my campus, district, state, nation, and the world. Wow, I never would have thought that 30 years ago (when I was in high school) you would be able to talk to anyone in the world just by clicking a button. We have come a long way. I feel that I need to come a long way to open my mind, my brain, my heart to embrace this new world of information and learning. I will try my best to survive this journey and live abundantly and successfully in this 'brave new world.' Help!
